Moving Through The Week

One of the best ways to get in touch with your body is through movement. It doesn’t have to be intense or excessive, but it does have to be intentional and regular. The act of moving helps us surrender to ourselves and become more present within our bodies and minds.

We hear over and over again how much guests love our opt-in opt-out activity schedule. Each of us seeks time out for different reasons, which is why we believe every individual should be able to create the structure and pace of their retreat journey, selecting the activity program that aligns authentically with their personal needs. Learn about a few of our favourite ways to keep our bodies moving throughout the day.

With Gaia’s rotating schedule, guests are able to participate in mid-morning and/or early evening activities such as Pilates, Qi-Gong, Move It Dance, Sound Healing, Cacao Ceremony or Cooking Class to name just a few. Paired with our optional Yoga class held each morning to guide guests into the new day, and our One-on-One personal training sessions, there is something for everyone, of all ages, and all levels of fitness, to design the perfect retreat stay.

But of course… the best kind of exercise is the one you enjoy doing! It’s more likely that you’ll stick to it when it makes you feel good. Find activities that fulfill your mind, body and spirit — and try not to get too caught up in what other people are doing for their health and wellness goals. You don’t need an expensive gym membership or fancy equipment, just a few minutes each day to reap the benefits of movement!

Here are a few of this week’s favourites to inspire your own path…

Morning Yoga… grounding to self

Experience a greater sense of well-being and awaken your inner potential with the combination of physical, mental, and spiritual practice. Regular yoga helps to increase your flexibility, strength, and fitness whilst calming the mind and allowing it to focus and relax in times of stress. This practice includes a series of stretches and breath control work and concludes with a calming meditation. We embrace all levels and capabilities from beginner to advanced.

Qi Gong… balance and harmony

Discover the subtle but powerful movement of Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese healing and meditation art form restoring natural harmony from within. Qi Gong is a unique practice founded on the belief that energy flows through the body along meridian pathways. The slow movements used in Qi Gong facilitate ease of flow and encompass aligning breath, movement, and awareness for gentle calming exercise.

Pilates… renewed energy

Pilates practice focuses on balance, core strength, posture, and flexibility. Here at Gaia, our specific mat classes allow you to connect with your body to re-energise, strengthen and improve your postural movement. Pilates exercises allow for a range of difficulty, from beginner to advanced.

Move It Dance… pure joy

With a playlist of some of your favourite songs from legends such as Dolly Parton, Adele, and Gaia’s very own Olivia Newton-John, this post-disco, post-ballet, post-aerobics dance fitness fun class will have you laughing out loud within minutes of the first warm-up exercise. The class promotes the production of your happy hormones – DOSE (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins), while assisting to improve your physicality, strength, and flexibility in a creative safe space.  Designed for everyone to enjoy – any age and fitness level, you’ll definitely get a good workout and an incredible dose of joy!

Sound Healing Meditation… profound relaxation

Experience the exquisite nourishment of our sound healing meditation. You are invited to completely let go and receive a profoundly nourishing vibrational experience. Sound healing allows you to surrender to the moment, connect with your body through peaceful breathwork, and walk away feeling balanced, clear, calm, and spacious. Restful healing is an essential component of your wellness journey, one which will complement your physical movement program and allow your body to gently restore.
