Gentle & Simple Spring Detox

It's that time of year - flowers are in bloom signifying new beginnings, there's an overwhelming urge to spring clean the house and the desire to shift the sluggish feelings in our body increases. Welcome to spring! Here's a simple detox program to kick-start the season of change and accomplishment.

We recommend consulting your health care professional before doing any type of detox, however this simple and gentle one week program is suitable for most people with general good health. We recommend resting/doing as little as possible during a detox, but if this is not possible, please eat the protein* suggestions to keep your energy levels up. We've included a few meal options so you can mix it up during the week. Stick to this program for one week and you'll feel, clear, energised and ready to take on the world!

Upon waking - have a glass of warm water with lemon (optional to add a few slices of fresh ginger). Exercise of choice for at least 20 minutes, preferably 40min - 1hr. The idea is to get your heart rate up and break into a light sweat. Breakfast will be a freshly squeezed vegetable juice (carrot, beetroot, celery, zucchini, ginger, turmeric etc). *Protein suggestion - egg white omlette with leafy green vegetables of your choice.

Lunch - Steamed vegetables with tamari, mung bean sprouts and a small portion of brown rice, quinoa with baked vegetables & rosemary, flax seed crackers with avocado, lettuce salad with boiled egg & roast vegies. *Protein suggestion - small portion of boiled chicken breast or cooked beans/lentils with spices, small piece of freshly grilled tuna.

Dinner - Bone broth soup or Veggie broth soup, light stew, small piece of grilled fish with steamed vegetables.

Snacks - Celery & carrot sticks with a tiny amount of hummus or avocado, 10 soaked & peeled almonds.

Drinks - herbal teas, substitute dandelion for coffee, filtered water, fresh vegetable juices.

AVOID - caffeine, wheat, dairy, sugar, fresh or dried fruit, processed food.

Tips - keep your fluids up, but avoid drinking during meals. Carry healthy snacks with you in your bag along with filtered water. Stay focused and remember - it's only one week of commitment to achieve great benefits!

Most of the foods mentioned can be purchased at your local organic health food store or in the health section of your local supermarket.
