Gaia Retreat & Spa wins 'Best Health Retreat' at the 2011 Gourmet Traveller Travel Awards

Our General Manager Gregg Cave was honoured to accept the prestigious award from Gourmet Traveller last night while Olivia Newton-John and 10 friends celebrated during a dinner in the Kukura house at Gaia Retreat & Spa.

The accolades were announced last night at an exclusive dinner hosted by the editor of Gourmet Traveller, Anthea Loucas, and attended by the cream of Australia’s travel industry. Special guests included TV presenter and Getaway lounge ambassador Catriona Rowntree, who acted as MC, along with fellow Getaway presenter, Kate Cebrano.

Gourmet Traveller editor Anthea Loucas said: “we take pride to shine a light on Australia's finest travel operators. The Australian tourism industry has evolved into a sophisticated and diverse industry that is the envy of the world. Congratulations to each of the winners."

The Readers Choice categories and finalists were chosen by an expert panel of travel writers, editors, photographers and independent industry leaders. Gourmet Traveller readers and viewers of the Nine Network's Getaway program were then able to vote online in each of the categories.

Gaia Retreat & Spa General Manager and co-owner Gregg Cave said "We are sincerely grateful to all who voted and for the support and recognition from our peers. At Gaia we strive to listen to the needs of our guest and tailor their programs to suit their personal needs.  As a huge fan of Gourmet Traveller, last night was a beautiful evening, perfectly hosted by Catriona Rowntree with exquisite cuisine by Shannon Bennett- and of course going home with an award! What more can a man want!. I’m so very proud of our Gaia Team who come to work each daywith heart. We are so very grateful! "

Co-owner Olivia Newton-John said "I am absolutely thrilled & honoured to receive such a prestigious award. I am so proud of all our staff at Gaia who bring their hearts to work every day to make this possible."
